Description

The German Language Program is a 10-month course from ALA Academy, followed by a 2-month supervised practical training. You will build speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills level by level, from A1 to B2, using the Menschen and Sicher! coursebooks, then apply your German in realistic workplace and everyday simulations. B2 is the target level, confirmed by your assessed results.

Course Structure

- Duration: 12 months / 48 active weeks

- Sessions: 144 instructor-led sessions (3 per week, 3 hours each including a 15-minute break)

- Total hours: 432 scheduled hours (396 net learning hours)

- Months 1-2: A1, 24 sessions

- Months 3-4: A2, 24 sessions

- Months 5-7: B1, 36 sessions

- Months 8-10: B2, 36 sessions

- Months 11-12: 24 practical training sessions (role-plays, interviews, meetings, capstone)

- Independent practice: at least 5 hours per week (240 hours in total)

- Entry level: beginner, with no prior German required

- Method: communicative, task-based learning with weekly speaking practice

- Past events, plans, wishes, and solving everyday problems

- Telephone calls, appointments, and workplace emails

- Describing experiences and giving and supporting opinions

- Job applications, German CVs, and interview skills

- News, podcasts, and separating facts from opinions

- Arguments, counterarguments, summaries, and presentations

- Complex texts, extended speech, and fluent self-correction

- Professional emails, meetings, negotiation, and service recovery

- IT and digital-product vocabulary in context

- Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in context

- Reading, listening, writing, and speaking strategies for exam-style tasks

Projects and Assessment

- A1 project: personal communication pack

- A2 project: plan a community event

- B1 capstone: a practical improvement proposal

- B2 professional communication pack and four-skill exit assessment

- Monthly progress checks and level gates after A1, A2, B1, and B2

- Practical training capstone, final demonstration, and portfolio defence

- Separate Course Completion and Practical Training Completion certificates (external exams such as Goethe are assessed separately)

Practical Training

Spend 2 months in supervised live online simulations: customer enquiry desk, telephone and video support, complaint handling, German CV and interview workshops, chairing project meetings, and client discovery. Work on fictional workplace scenarios under an assigned trainer, receive written feedback, and finish with a capstone and a portfolio of your recordings.
