Description
The UI/UX Design Program is a 6-month course from ALA Academy, followed by a 6-month embedded internship with ALA Core on real projects. You will learn the full user-centred design process, from research and information architecture to high-fidelity prototypes, accessibility, design systems, and developer handoff, using Figma and FigJam.
Course Structure
- Duration: 6 months / 24 weeks
- Sessions: 72 instructor-led sessions (3 per week, 2 hours each)
- Total hours: 144 instructional hours
- Months 1-5: 60 UI/UX design sessions
- Month 6: 12 career-readiness sessions (CV, LinkedIn, portfolio, interviews, graduation presentation)
- Internship: 26 weeks with ALA Core
- Entry level: beginner, with no prior professional experience required
- Method: Double Diamond and iterative user-centred design
What You Will Learn
- UX and UI foundations, product roles, and the product lifecycle
- Ethical user research: interviews, surveys, competitive analysis, and affinity mapping
- Personas, empathy maps, Jobs To Be Done, journey maps, and problem statements
- Information architecture: card sorting, tree testing, and sitemaps
- User flows, edge cases, and error prevention
- Ideation, sketching, and wireframing from low to high fidelity
- Visual hierarchy, typography, color systems, and grids
- Advanced Figma: Auto Layout, components, variants, and design tokens
- Responsive web and mobile UI patterns, forms, and system states
- UX writing, localization, and Arabic RTL design
- Interactive prototyping with variables and conditional logic
- Accessibility with WCAG 2.2
- Usability testing, heuristic evaluation, and UX metrics
- Design systems: component libraries, documentation, and governance
- Developer handoff and Design QA
Projects and Assessment
- Project 1: UX research and low-fidelity prototype
- Project 2: Responsive high-fidelity UI
- An integrated capstone project (30% of the grade)
- Career package and graduation presentation before an ALA Core panel
Career Month
Build a UI/UX CV, a LinkedIn profile, and a portfolio of case studies. Complete a mock interview with portfolio defence and design critique, and present your graduation project.
Real-World Internship
Work in real ALA Core internal or client projects under an assigned mentor, collaborating directly with developers on feasibility reviews, handoff, and Design QA. You do not publish or approve production changes independently.
